Unwrapping the Gucci Rhyton was an experience in itself. The packaging exudes luxury, surpassing any other sneaker packaging I’ve encountered. Are Gucci Rhyton’s true to size?

In designer heels my true size is typically a 37.5 EU, but with sneakers, I size up. The 38 EU fit perfectly, though sizing can vary depending on the brand and model. The sizing with the Gucci Rython is roughly the same as with adidas for example, in which my size is 38 or 38.5 EU. 

Comfort and Versatility

Contrary to the high heels I usually review, the Gucci Rhyton is definitely made for walking. While not as comfortable as a running sneaker like the Adidas Ultra Boost, it’s comfortable enough for long days. It’s a significant improvement from the early days of designer sneakers, which often sacrificed comfort for style. This shoe is suitable for various styles and is a great addition to a growing sneaker collection. It’s not entry-level in terms of price but offers a fashionable yet practical choice for those who appreciate luxury footwear.

To make a direct exchange – swapping your heels for a different size of the same style, or another item of the exact same value – request the exchange online. Note that direct exchanges cannot be processed if you used PayPal to pay. Direct exchanges are also subject to the availability of the requested item at the time your exchange is processed, so if the item isn’t available, a normal refund will be issued. Luckily, you won’t have to pay to ship your exchange order. If you still aren’t satisfied with your item, you can’t make a second exchange since an exchanged order can only be returned for a refund.

Occasionally, Louboutin will accept returned shoes with damaged soles if they believe the shoes can be fixed, but in this case, they’ll deduct a repair fee from your refund total. If you’d like to wear a pair of Louboutins for one special occasion and then give them back, consider renting designer shoes from a trusted rental service!

You can’t return Christian Louboutin shoes that have been worn many times, but there are still many other options besides throwing them away. What colour heels are appropriate for the office?

Most brightly coloured heels are too bold for the typical office job. Keeping it simple with neutral colours like black, grey, brown and nude is a safer option. Occasionally, muted darker shades of red, green or blue are appropriate styles for work. However, black designer heels are my favourite option since they can be adapted to so many occasions outside of work – the universal glam is worth the price!

What heel height is appropriate for the office?

There are several factors to take into account when choosing which heel height is best for the office:

1. Is your job sedentary? If you spend the majority of the day seated, you can probably afford to rock higher heels. On the other hand, if you tend to have busier days, it’s better to walk with confidence than to feel uncomfortable in a very high heel.
2. Do you commute a long way to work? You won’t want to rush to catch a train or scale a lot of stairs in very high heels!
3. What is your office culture like? If you work in a more conservative environment, it might be best to reflect that aesthetic in your work uniform. However, you should always prioritise wearing what makes you feel the most comfortable.

That said, if you decide to wear your heels to work, I would suggest to go up to 70-100mm (2.7-3.9 inches) heel height. Since I’m used to wearing high heels, I tend to wear 100mm heels most days, but if you are a beginner at wearing heels, you can start with kitten and block heels before graduating to high heels! Many designers produce lower versions of the same heels, so there’s something for everyone. How to get used to wearing heels to the office

Before we jump into my office heel recommendations, let’s cover some basic advice on office wear and wearing heels to work. :

• My main reminder for those wearing higher heels to work for the first time is to know your boundaries well. Wearing heels every day for a long workday can seriously damage the muscles in your legs and feet.
• When you’re getting used to the first few weeks of wearing heels, consider bringing an alternative pair of flat pumps or kitten heels as a backup.
• High heels don’t match every office outfit, so it’s perfectly fine to experiment with other types of shoes.
• I would also recommend practising wearing your work heels around your home or on a short outing – this way you’ll be prepared to strut with confidence during the work week!

• Hot Chick Pumps by Louboutin – these 100mm patent leather heels have a distinctly pronounced arch and a beautiful deep décolleté. They are available in black, white and nude as well as in an alternative slingback style for the summer.
• Kate Pumps by Louboutin – the patent leather 100mm Kate Pumps feature an elegant pointed toe and can easily be styled with any work outfit.
• Rockstud Patent Pumps by Valentino  – these glossy patent leather 100mm stilettos feature three ankle straps embossed with Valentino’s signature pyramid stud, creating a contemporary and bold office heel look.

In this section, I’ll recommend some more comfortable heels for those who are more active during the average workday!

• Love Pump by Jimmy Choo – Jimmy Choo modernises the typical pointed-toe patent shoe with a glamorous gold JC logo embellishment at the top of the heel. These heels are a little wider at the toe, making for a much more comfortable fit.

• Suede Gianvito Pumps by Gianvito Rossi – these simple suede 85mm pumps offer a flattering low-cut top line and elegant pointed toe. They’re also a comfier alternative to my 100mm heel picks.

• Kate Pointed Toe Pumps by Louboutin – the gorgeous Kate Pumps are also available with a smaller 85mm heel in a burnished leather finish.

How to silence heels in the office

There’s nothing more awkward than walking into a silent office and disturbing the quiet with loudly clacking stilettos! Luckily, I have a great tip for making your favourite heels quieter: simply have your heels altered by a cobbler. Most heels can be taken to a cobbler to have rubber caps applied to the heels or non-slip gel cushions added to the soles, making the shoes much quieter.

There are two anklets that I consider to be a staple of my wardrobe. The first is the beaded double-chain anklet by Monica Vinader. I have the rose gold anklet, but it also comes in gold and silver, all of which are recycled so you can be fashionable while still protecting the planet. Winter has arrived, heel-lovers! That means it’s time to put aside your strappy kitten heels and open-toed platforms and bring out a classical seasonal favourite: boots! Although I love wearing boots during spring and summer too, there’s nothing like a pair of stylish boots during the autumn and winter seasons. Today, I am going to show you a new, bold boots collection by Paris Texas, the Italian brand where the feminine, sensual side of Paris meets the rock’n’roll vibe of Texas.

Paris Texas brand overview

Paris Texas is an Italian shoe brand founded in 2015 by Annamaria Brivio in Milan. As the name suggests, the designers deal in contrasts: Parisian elegance meets the Western wild spirit to form a unique and iconic creation. They first released a capsule collection for an incubator specialising in emerging labels. The debut consisted of mules, chunky boots and stiletto heels in modern metallics, bold colours and wild snakeskin patterns. The drop was a hit and has since been seen on many celebrities, as I’ll explain later. If you love fashion and use Instagram often, you’ve definitely seen these boots!

Paris Texas boots are, of course, available on their main website. You can also find them on any top retailer of designer boots, such as MyTheresa and Farfetch, or your national fashion department store, such as Harrods. Do Paris Texas Boots go on sale?

Designer boots typically range between $600 and $2000 (tier 3-4 of my price guide). This excludes designs with more complex features and embellishments like the Jimmy Choo Blake Knee Boot, which can cost up to $7000! In my opinion, Paris Texas boots are very well priced considering the quality of the shoes, especially when compared to other brands. You can find most models on sale at some point as opposed to other designer brands which don’t do sales for the most iconic brands or only have limited stock. As of this post’s publication, the beautiful Paris Texas boots are currently on sale on Farfetch and Mytheresa, so be sure to check those out if you’re interested! My recommendation is to keep an eye on several different retailers by regularly checking websites and subscribing to mailing lists, so you’re ready when the boots you’re looking for the price to drop.

Paris Texas boots collection review

• Holly Crystal Stiletto Boots

The Holly Crystal stiletto boots are calf leather knee boots with dazzling silver crystal embellishment. The stiletto is 115mm and the shoe features an easy slip-on style rather than a zipper. I’d recommend that if you plan on buying one of the other colours such as black, pink, purple or yellow, it’s important to see the shoes in person instead of only looking online. I found that the pink colour had a much different shimmer effect to the silver and looked different to the photo on the website. These boots are so fun and I’ll definitely wear them a lot!

• Patent Leather Stiletto Boots

I love these Barbie-pink patent calf leather stiletto boots! The heel is 105mm and also has a slip-on style. These boots are more slim-fitting than the other slouchy shoes, so it might be smart to size up half a size if you need some extra room around your calves. The patent leather is also a little bit noisy when you walk, but the shoes are so stunning that it’s hardly a problem! Pink is definitely the colour of the season, but the boots are also available in teal green, red and black if you prefer.

• Stiletto Slouchy Boots

The 105mm Stiletto Slouchy boots are made from shiny ice-blue leather with an embossed snakeskin effect and a laminated finish. These cute shoes are also available in emerald green and fuchsia pink, as well as other colour variants with a suede finish. I think these are definitely a stunning standout of Paris Texas’ boots drop!

• Croc-Effect Stiletto Boots

Next, I tried the beautiful knee-high fuschia pink crocodile effect stiletto boots. These have a 105mm stiletto heel and are also available in indigo blue, chocolate brown, black and white. While the other boots are very bold and eye-catching, these boots are stylish in a more muted way and offer a simpler alternative for those who want shoes that are easier to style.

• Mama Over-the-knee boots

Last, the thigh-high Mama boots! These fuschia stiletto heels feature a classy crushed velvet effect and distinctly pointed toes. The exact heel measurement wasn’t shown on the website, but I’d estimate they’re about 100mm from comparing them by eye to my So Kate heels. I love the elasticated band at the top, which keeps the boots securely held up. Overall, a gorgeous addition to my wardrobe!

My favourite Paris Texas Boots outfits

• Holly Crystal Boots

The Holly Crystal boots are party boots and should be styled accordingly! These Instagrammable shoes gave me a festive vibe, so I paired them with a sparkly dress to be worn to a Christmas party or New Year’s celebration.

• Patent Stiletto Boots

The pink Patent Stiletto boots paired well with a black mini dress that didn’t distract too much from the shoes. I would recommend a more muted outfit with a statement piece like these shoes.

• Slouchy Boots

I styled the Slouchy Stiletto boots with a sleek all-black outfit and some black faux leather pants. You could also style these with some shorts in the warmer seasons, but an elegant dress would clash with the bold shoes.

• Croc-Effect Stiletto Boots

The Croc-Effect Stiletto boots looked great with an elegant A-line satin dress; I also accessorised with a thin black belt for contrast. As I said, these boots are more muted than the other boots and therefore more adaptable, so you can dress them up or down with your outfit and accessories.

• Mama Over-the-knee boots

Last but not least, I styled the Mama boots similarly to the pink patent boots: with a simple black mini dress. Again, these boots make a statement and add a pop of colour to any outfit, so I would let them speak for themselves rather than wearing a colourful outfit too.

Mytheresa and Paris Texas have released a Western-inspired boots collaboration where sharpshooting cowboy aesthetics meet Hollywood glam. The boots feature fringes, suede, and lots of sparkles! Do Paris Texas Boots run big or small? Should you size up or down?

I found that the Paris Texas boots didn’t run particularly big or small in terms of the actual shoe. However, knee-high or thigh-high shoes that don’t feature a “slouchy” effect may be a little tight around the calf, depending on your size. It’s worth trying the shoes on in-store to see how they fit before you buy them, or comparing them to other boots you already have in your wardrobe. 

Are Paris Texas Boots true to size?

Overall, Paris Texas boots are true to size. I bought all my boots in either a size 37.5 or 38. The main two factors to account for are:

1. Calf size — do thigh-high boots typically squeeze your legs uncomfortably? Then go up by half a size.
2. Thickness of socks — if you don’t plan to wear thicker socks with your boots, there’s no need to size up for extra space!

Many popular celebrities have been spotted in the trendy Paris Texas boots collection! Model Emily Ratajkowski was one of the first celebrities to be spotted in Paris Texas boots, rocking chocolate-brown croc-embossed boots back in 2018. This brought lots of attention to the brand. Since then, many celebrities have styled the shoes in their own unique ways. Hailey Bieber adapted the Angora Slouchy Suede Boots in a cream-white to her street style in the streets of snowy New York, pairing them with baggy mom jeans and a cosy cream trench coat. Rising actress Yara Shahidi’s youthful, modern take on the showstopping gold croc-embossed boots features summery white shorts and a navy-blue cape. One of my absolute favourite stylings has to be Dua Lipa’s Jimmy Kimmel look. The 60s style corset dress with the glossy, bright- pink croc-print boots is so effortlessly chic. These boots are truly the perfect staple for every wardrobe!

Paris Texas dupes vs official brand items

Like with any viral fashion sensation, dupes of the iconic Paris Texas boots are available through websites such as Shein, AliExpress and more. Although they are a fraction of the price of the original, they lack a lot of quality. Dupes are not manufactured with long-term usage in mind — they’ll look damaged after months or even weeks of wear. On the other hand, Paris Texas boots last many seasons looking just as gorgeous as when they came out of the box (with the proper upkeep of course)! I also believe it’s important to support the original vision of the designer. Paris Texas is a female-owned business with a lot of passion and heart behind the scenes. Supporting that is worth the time it takes to save up a little more money.

Alternative designer boots brands

When shopping for boots, it’s important to consider three main factors:

• Heel type – do you prefer a block heel, stiletto or a platform? Block heels tend to be comfy and easy to walk in – not to mention that they’re the safest on icy, slippery surfaces during Winter. However, if you prefer a bold, high-impact look, you might want to go for a stiletto boot.
• Length of the boot – ankle boots, under-the-knee, or over-the-knee height? Lower-ankle boots are the easiest to style in everyday outfits while over-the-knee boots add more drama to your look. It all depends on your individual style.
• Material – from leather to suede to nylon, there are many different fabrics to choose from. Patent leather makes for an eye-catching look, but suede boots are more of a stylish classic – you can choose!

If you’ve decided to go all-in with the most colourful boots, your next priority should be learning how to care for your shoes so that they stay gorgeous and intact for many years in the future. Polishing boots is a super simple process that can help extend your boots’ life and keep them looking their best. Here are my fast and easy steps for polishing boots:

1. Start by removing any dirt or debris from the boots using a damp cloth or brush.
2. Once your boots are clean, apply a small amount of leather conditioner to a soft cloth and rub it into the leather in a circular motion.
3. Next, apply a thin layer of boot polish to a separate cloth and rub it into the leather in a circular motion. Be sure to cover the entire surface of the boots, including the soles, laces, and any decorative stitching.
4. Allow the polish to dry for a few minutes, then buff the boots using a clean, dry cloth to give them a glossy finish.
5. Repeat the process as necessary to maintain the shine and condition of your boots.

Remember to always use a high-quality leather conditioner and boot polish. To be sure that your chosen products are right for your shoes, test them on a small, inconspicuous area of the boots before applying them to the entire surface. How to measure heel height on pumps, sandals and boots

If you would like to learn how to measure your shoe’s heel height, you’ve definitely come to the right place! This method works perfectly with stiletto boots, sandals, pumps, and almost any other kind of similar-style heels you might have in your closet. All you’ll need is a flat surface and something to measure with, like a ruler or tape measure. 

1. Place the shoe you’d like to measure on a flat surface such as a table (note that an elevated surface will be much easier to measure from than lying flat on the floor). 
2. Grab your ruler or tape measure, then measure from the top of the heel cap to the highest point of the heel. You can also include the heel cap in your measurements, but remember that most shoe sellers will not include the heel cap in their description of the heel. 

That’s it – now you can decide whether your heel is suitable for your day out or night on the town! Next, I’ll explain how to find out the height of different styles of heel.

How to measure heel height on platforms

To measure the height of a platform heel, you use the same method as the one we use to measure boots or pumps, with one important extra rule! If you are measuring platform heels, you have to take a measurement of two things:

1. Measure the platform itself, from the bottom of the platform to the point where the shoe starts and the heel that you would typically measure.
2. After that, just subtract the platform size from the heel size to work out the overall heel height. For instance, a five-inch heel with a two-inch platform will create an actual “true rise” of three inches. 

How to measure heel height on wedges

Since wedges don’t have a gap between the platform part and the heel part, it might seem more difficult to find an accurate measurement. The best method is to simply replicate the platform method mentioned above, using the shortest part of the wedge at the toe as the “platform” measurement and the tallest part at the back of the foot as the “heel” measurement. Subtract the platform height from the heel height as usual and you’ll find the height of your chosen wedges.

How much height do heels actually add?

It’s important to remember that heels do not add the full length of the heel itself to your height. A six-inch heel most likely will not add six full inches to your height. The height that your heels will add to your height actually depends on the size of the platform and the incline of the heel. For example, a pair of six-inch heels with no platform will add around 3.5-4 inches to your height. On the other hand, a pair of six-inch heels with a two-inch platform will add 4-4.5 inches to your height! This comes down to the designer’s choice of how much the heel itself is inclined. If you wanted to increase your height most effectively, you’d be better off opting for a dramatic pair of flat platforms. Flat platforms are a modern and stylish alternative to the more classic style of heels. Simply remember that walking on larger flat platforms requires plenty of practice too. Don’t be fooled by the lack of incline! In general, you can estimate that around two-thirds of the size of a heel will be added to your height.

Does heel height change with shoe size?

Although many think that heel size changes in proportion to shoe size, this is actually completely untrue! Most shoe manufacturers ensure that the heel size is consistent on every shoe size, so there’s no need to worry about whether the shoes you buy will be different to the height you were advertised for online!

How to find your ideal heel height

Wondering what heel height would be most well-suited to your foot size? There’s actually an easy calculation to figure this out! Although comfortability in heels depends on many different factors, from how much experience you have with walking in heels to the material of the shoe itself, the following steps can give you a general idea of which heel height would be best suited to you based on the size of your feet. This way, you’ll know where to start when you hit the stores!

1. First, grab your trusty ruler or measuring tape and measure the length of your foot.
2. Make sure that your foot is resting on a flat surface to ensure that you get an accurate reading. You can also ask a close friend to take the reading for you.
3. Be sure to convert the measurement to centimetres if you’ve recorded the length in inches or millimetres – the calculation only works if you use the right unit of measurement.
4. Divide your foot length by 7, and you’ve got your ideal heel height. For example, if your feet are 22cm, then your ideal heel will be about 3.1cm, which falls into the mid-height heel category (more on categories of heel heights in the “What is a comfortable heel height?” section).

Another simple method of finding your ideal heel height is to measure the length from the heel of your foot to the ball of your foot. Think of the heel of your foot as the beginning of where your foot starts, and the ball of your foot as the place where your foot bends when you stand on your tippy toes! Sit in a chair and stretch your leg out in front of you. Don’t hold your foot out straight – let it relax and hang without any tension. The idea is to measure the natural incline of your foot while in its most natural state. Then, ask a friend to use a ruler or measuring tape to measure the length from the heel to the ball of your foot. This exact measurement is your ideal heel height! 

What is a comfortable heel height?

Finding the most comfortable heel height for you is all about preference, experience and occasion. Read on to find out more about the different categories of heel heights, and which one is best suited for you!

• Low heels are typically 2.5”/64mm and shorter, including styles such as kitten heels, brogues and pumps. This height is not only suitable for the workplace, but also for more formal occasions – you’ll be able to dance the night away without suffering from aching soles at the end of the evening. If you are at the beginning of your journey with heels, low heels are a great place to start so that you can get comfortable with your movement. 
• Mid-height heels range from 2.6”-3.4”, or 65-89mm – think ankle boots and wedges! The average-sized heel – 3” or 75mm – falls neatly into this category. Mid-height heels are classic, feminine, and suitable for any occasion whether day or night. 
• High heels can be anywhere from 3.5”-4.5”, or 90-115mm. Once you’ve practised with smaller heels, a high-heeled boot or stiletto is the perfect way to add some flair to your look. Keep in mind that you can always make your shoe more comfortable with a gel or memory foam insole.
• Very high heels are 4.6”-5.5”, or 116-140mm. In this category, you’ll often find a platform has been added to the ball of the shoe to make the heels easier to walk in. However, some will have all the height in just the heel. Whether you opt for a larger platform or heel is completely up to you – just think about which look you prefer and how much experience you have with wearing heels.
• The final category of heels is extreme heels, which are 5.6”/141mm or more! While these shoes are definitely not for beginners at strutting in heels, they are an eye-catching style for the more practised fashionista. Extreme heels are beautifully dramatic and edgy. They are not comfortable for most after very long periods of wear, but absolutely can still be worn on dressy occasions.

Can a cobbler reduce heel height?

If you’re struggling to walk in your heels because of the height, don’t fret – a skilled cobbler should be able to reduce the height of the shoe if needed! Cobblers can even increase the height of a shoe if you’re feeling particularly daring. However, there is a limit to how much even the best cobbler can alter the height of a heeled shoe. Most heels can be reduced by about 0.5” or 12mm with no issue, but more than that can seriously change the balance of the shoe. All heeled shoes, no matter the size of the heel, are designed with a specific balance that cannot be altered to an extreme extent, without making the shoe impossible to walk in. You can get a general sense of your heel’s balance with this quick trick: hold your chosen heel to the edge of a flat surface, letting the heel itself hang off of the surface. Next, gently tilt the heel downwards as much as you would ideally like to decrease the height. If the toe raises off the table a lot, it’s probably too much to adjust the heel. Just remember: there’s no shame in practising your model walk with shorter heels before buying bigger ones! It’s always better to take your time expanding your heels collection than to rush the process.
